Windfarm in Aulepa
The Special Purpose Vehicle for developing the wind fram project in Aulepa was established on 09.11.2005 by Henno Toiger, Jaan Mell, Randar Tamm and Henri Dobrysh. Site planning for a wind farm located in the fields in Aulepa, Suur-Nõmmküla and Vanaküla villages was started at the end of 2005 in cooperation with Noarootsi County. The Grid Connection Agreement with the Estonian TSO Põhivõrk (now renamed Elering) was signed on 12.01.2006. Based on the wind audit performed by Enveco Steinfurt GmbH 3 MW wind trubines were selected for maximum productivity. The development process, after the signing of land lease and other pertinent agreements, was completed with the issuing of the construction permit for the installation of 13 wind turbines by Noarootsi Municipality on 24.09.2007. Turn-key turbine delivery agreement with WinWinD Oy was signed and Empower AS chosen as the general contractor for infrastructure works. Eesti Energia AS succeeded in outbidding investors from Germany, Finland, Spain and Norway and purchased 100% of the shares of the SPV, Aulepa Tuulepargid OÜ, on 08.11.2007. The cornerstone was laid on 14.05.2008. Today, Eesti Energia the biggest wind farm in the Baltic countries is producing electricity, with expected annual output of 100 GWh, which covers the annual consumption of 35 000 households. This amount of wind electricity avoids the emission of 120 000 tons of carbon dioxide.
